Why was this called the Romantic era?

It allowed artistic freedom, experimentation, and creativity. It was a concept that encompassed different art mediums; from music to painting to literature. They used imagination and passion and interpreted it into their work.

So the romance of it came from the passion put into the music? It wasn’t guys sitting outside of a girl’s window playing a song for them? I thought it would have been something more on those lines, but if the romance is with the music itself, I’m fine with that.
