The Baroque Era.

Nothing was ever “baro-quen” but the word baroque came from the Portuguese word Baroco, which means oddly shaped pearl or pearl of irregular shape or strangeness. The Baroque era took place in Western Europe between the 1600’s and the 1750’s. There was no common tuning note so each performance sounded different. There were not many dynamics in this time so the performers had to add their own dynamics. So you could say that things were broken “baro-quen” by the tuning never being the same and by that there were no dynamics, but really this was just a new style of music.
